GANNI signed an offtake agreement with Ambercycle to secure access to cycora® regenerated polyester, becoming the first progressive luxury brand to integrate the innovative material at scale.

Los Angeles, California and Copenhagen, Denmark, January 21st, 2025 — Danish womenswear brand GANNI has signed an offtake agreement ensuring a commitment to accessing cycora® regenerated polyester from Ambercycle’s first commercial facility. The agreement represents a commitment to scaling cycora® into GANNI’s collections, starting with replacing over 20% of its annual virgin and bottle recycled polyester usage with Ambercycle’s circular alternative made from end-of-life textiles.

Since their partnership began in 2021, Ambercycle and GANNI have collaborated to incorporate cycora® into GANNI’s collections.

cycora® is the first solution from Ambercycle, a Los Angeles-based material science company focused on creating decarbonized and circular materials. Created from end-of-life textiles, cycora® offers a truly circular alternative to conventional polyester, diverting waste from landfills and reducing reliance on virgin resource extraction. Its virgin-grade quality and durability ensure it meets the demands of high-performance and high-quality applications.

The partnership began with a 30% cycora® jersey that launched in November 2023. A second colorway, made with 70% cycora®, quickly followed, showcasing the material’s scalability and performance. These early launches validated cycora®’s high quality and ease of supply chain integration, laying the foundation for its adoption at scale.

The success of cycora®’s early launches culminated in GANNI’s Paris Fashion Week collection, which featured three standout pieces incorporating the material. This success solidified cycora®’s role in GANNI’s collections and inspired the brand to formalize its commitment through this offtake agreement.

“At GANNI, we’re always looking for ways to improve and take responsibility for our impact. Partnering with Ambercycle on an offtake agreement for cycora® is a natural step in our commitment to circular, low-impact solutions. Agreements like this are vital to scaling innovative materials and reducing the fashion industry’s carbon footprint,” said Nicolaj Reffstrup, GANNI Founder. “There’s an urgent need to support innovators and drive long-term collaboration while holding ourselves accountable for transitioning to better material choices. We’re excited to see the impact this collaboration will have in the years ahead.”

The offtake agreement represents a strategic move for both companies. For GANNI, it is a critical step in achieving its sustainability targets, including reducing its carbon footprint by 50% by 2027 from its 2021 baseline and having 10% of materials across collections come from 'Fabrics of The Future' by 2025. For Ambercycle, it is a validation of their ability to build a future where maintaining true circularity and product quality can be achieved simultaneously.

As the fashion industry races to meet ambitious 2025 and 2030 sustainability targets, the gap between demand for circular materials and the limited supply has become a critical challenge. Innovators like Ambercycle have created impactful solutions, but scaling these technologies requires bold commitments. By securing access to cycora® early, GANNI is strategically refining its material library to prioritize solution providers like Ambercycle that drive impactful decarbonization.

"Collaboration is the cornerstone of building a circular future," said Shay Sethi, Co-Founder & CEO of Ambercycle. "Working with forward-thinking brands like GANNI allows us to take collective, incremental steps toward transforming the fashion system. This partnership is an example of how shared commitment and action can cultivate sustainability achievements."
